ScalePlay is a generative music application capable of producing intricate ostinatos and sequences by applying complex scale patterns to user-defined songforms and chord changes. This versatile tool, suitable for both music production and education, offers scale references for hundreds of scales, nine virtual instruments, and 128 instrument sounds. This exercise can be challenging, requiring a solid understanding of the base scale. ScalePlay simplifies this process by constructing intricate patterns using two simple grids.

The application uses songs as a metaphor to categorize various scale types within a harmonic context. By associating chords with specific scales, ScalePlay allows users to superimpose patterns on existing pieces and practice improvisation effectively.

For practice sessions, ScalePlay displays pattern progressions on the built-in instrument along with music notation references. The ability to slow down playback speed facilitates learning, while the pattern lock feature ensures continuity across different chords.
